A Speech

I am taking two English classes during the semester. One of the English professors required us to read the book, " Freedom Writers" and we had to listen a speech from the book. Unfortunately, I got my book very late. My professor let me read it before the speech started. I generally know what the book is all about, a teacher's successful career. In the beginning of the speech, a teacher who is teaching high school, gives an idea about how she is using the way that the book mentioned to teach her students. She told us how useful it was and how her students made her cry. The following speaker, our professor, told us what is he thought about the book and read the part of the book which he liked. Overall, I really enjoyed the speech and it also changed some of my old thoughts.

Church with me

Before I came to the United States, I went to church a couple of times. I also did not know much about religion. When I was in China, I went to church because of the music which played in church attracted me. Since I came to here, my friends and most of my professors are Christian and they are nice people. They told me a lot of their expriences with God and how God changed their lives. I was very impacted by their stories. I started discovering the area of religion as I was learning a new knowlege, and I went to church on Sundays to learn what the religion was. We have two services in our church, one of them is a Chinese church service and another is a local church service, I usually go to both of them. Finally one day, I found everything belongs to God and He has the greatest plan for me; I don't need to worry about anything. I feel a continuous peace in my heart. For the past few months, God keeps pointing the way to me. That is my story with Him.

Living in campus' life

Between Monday until Friday, obviously going to class becomes the most important part for me. After I finish all the classes I have during the day, sometimes I will go to the library to study with my classmates or go to the tutor centre. When I come back to my dorm, I usually will be doing my homework or watching televsion. Before dinner time, I will go to workout at the gym for a while. I love to go to the gym to do exercises, it is really good for my body and it helps me keep healthy and balanced with an overload of study. I enjoy it every now and then. On most of the weekends, my friends and I will go picnic if the weather allows. Hanging out with old friends makes friendship more deep and meeting new friends makes life more colorful; it is my freshman college life. By the way, I love it!

My classes

It will be the last month until finals, I am so excited about it. My classes are so far so good, and now most students are deciding what classes they are going to take for the next semester, and so am I. I probably will take a religion class, Public Speaking, and Classroom Management, etc. I won't be staying in my dorm anymore, and I will move to another Hall for the next year. One of my classes that I am taking, Classroom technology, is going very well. I always study with my classmates after the class is over and we have a lot of fun studying together. I also learn a lot from each one of them. I hope at the end of the class, I can get a good grade for the final test.

Valentine's Day

This is my first Valentine's Day in Texas. Many people, dressed in red or pink colored shirts, were roaming around the campus. In afternoon, I went to a free movie with a lot of my friends. We saw a movie called "Jumper," and we liked it a lot. It seemed like everybody had a lot of fun that day. I really enjoyed the whole atmosphere at the theater. It was the best Valentine's Day I ever had.I don't have a boyfriend or anything, so I felt a bit, lonely? Maybe? Not quite so. It was actually fun. As a matter of fact, being single is a lot better than dealing with having a boyfriend. I have more time to myself, and I can do more things that I want without him bothering me. At least I don't have to spend money buying presents for my nonexistant boyfriend. Not a lot of people in my country celebrate this joyous occassion. This country, however, does. It's a new experience for me.

Plan for Spring Break

Next week is Spring Break. I am so excited about it. Finally, I have a break during the busy study. I probably will go to my friend's house during most of the Spring Break and then I will go back to her home with her. I will meet her family and have fun with them. I heard that some of her family members went to China last year and they are looking forward meeting me during my stay at her house. Actually, she already graduated for UMHB a couple years ago. She is living in Atalanta, Georgia, and she will be coming back to school to visit me.
